Self-employed Holistic Therapist at NIHP Durham
I have been practising as a Holistic Therapist since 1999. I have always been interested in the therapeutic benefits of massage and initially studied Body Massage. After that course I wanted to learn more and did further qualifications in Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage.
For many years I treated clients from a therapy room in my home alongside working full-time in IT. After leaving my IT role, I was able to dedicate more time to holistic therapies and ran a local holistic therapy business for several years.
As a Fellow of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT), I am required to carry out Continuous Personal Development (CPD) by attending courses and seminars.
I am passionate about carrying out treatments that will help my clients by gathering their requirements during an initial assessment and always give after-care advice.
Further information regarding the holistic therapies I offer at NIHP Durham are detailed below…

Massage is well known to have beneficial effects on each system of the body, alleviates stress, tension and produces a sense of well-being. This massage, based on Swedish Massage techniques, is carried out using a base oil and can be either invigorating or relaxing.
Essential oils are known to have therapeutic properties such as relief for muscular aches and pains, counteracting stress and helping with many other conditions. Up to three essential oils will be selected and blended with a base oil to meet with the client’s specific requirements and applied to the client during a luxurious soothing massage.
During a treatment, pressure is applied to minute reflex points on the feet or hands. Such reflex points are related to specific areas within the body. By applying pressure to particular reflex points, any congestion, inflammation or tension in the corresponding area in the body can be alleviated. Reflexology is a very relaxing experience and by having regular treatments can ultimately help the body to heal and function more effectively.
Indian Head Massage, or Champissage, is a very old and traditional Indian practice of massaging the upper back, shoulders, and arms over the client’s clothes and their neck, scalp and face. This takes place whilst the client sits on a massage chair. Indian Head Massage has a de-stressing effect on the whole body. Its benefits can include the relief of muscular tensions especially in the shoulder and neck regions and headaches.
I’ve been seeing Judith for a long time after being recommended to her by a friend. I can say she’s a fabulous reflexologist and have recommended her to friends who also think she’s brilliant. She takes time to get to know you and make you feel relaxed and comfortable. I highly recommend her.
