I went to London the other week for a fitness seminar covering 10 Steps to a Healthier 2015… which we could all benefit from.
A funny thing happened in the morning which I must share with you…
I got my head down the night before around 10pm-ish which was great.
I had booked an alarm call and was assured by the hotel reception that all was in hand.
The alarm call was booked for 6.00am.
My train the next day was booked for 6.55am which was a bit early.
Anyhow I awoke up with a start at 6.20am … Aaaarrgghhhhh!
Very, very, grumpy I quickly ran out of the hotel and headed to the station with a quick step I can assure you.
No time for a shower.
No time for a tea, coffee or breakfast.
No time for a shave.
I was so angry with the hotel for missing my alarm call.
I THEN STOPPED IN MY TRACKS!!!
Having been listening to Tony Robbins in my car days before, I realised this was not the way to start the day or indeed the right way to handle this at all.
But more to the point it suddenly dawned on me that this is the very point Tony Robbins was making in one of his audio books.
Responsibility… or response – ability?
It was my journey.
I could have taken control.
I could have set my phone alarm.
This mini panic was MY fault not some poor receptionist.
It was my responsibility.
But it was also my ability to respond in the right or the wrong.
I reached the station on time smiling and teasing myself for not being responsible.
