TMJ "The Hidden Imposter"
This one day TMJ workshop will give you the necessary skills to accurately assess the most common dysfunctions relating to the TMJ. Developed from years of clinical experience, specialising in TMJ disorders, Ron also had the unique opportunity to attend training with master orthodontist, Dr Brendan Stack, from the USA. Combining this wealth of knowledge, the workshop provides you with the necessary understanding of the function of TMJ relating to body function. This course will provide the participant with range assessment and validation skills to enhance their bodywork practice.
What is covered
- Theory relating to the involvement of TMJ to the body, covering neurological, physiological and hormonal implications.
- Common causes of TMJ dysfunction.
- Assessment tools including, orthopaedic, kinesiological, myofascial assessment techniques.
- Splints.
- Scan software.
- Case studies including video examples covering movement disorders
Open to all practitioners of bodywork, particularly relevant to Bowen, the course will cover pre and post treatment assessments. Students will be given the time to treat using the treatment style of choice, validating the outcome of their treatment.

Your instructor: Ron Phelan
Ron Phelan has trained under three of Tom Bowen’s original students, also having had treatment from four of the original six. He practices in the Geelong region on many of Tom’s past patients.
He blends this rich experience with that of the knowledge gained from the work of Dr Stack in the USA to present this unique insight to the function of the TMJ.
