Metabolic Typing

Fundamental to achieving health and well-being is the food we eat.  Metabolic Typing® recognises that we are individuals on all levels, including our nutritional requirements. MT will help you identify the foods that will strengthen your metabolism and avoid foods that weaken your systems.  If we can do this then the body will be supplied with the right nutrients and fuel to heal itself.

How does it work:
You have a genetic potential, which requires certain types and amounts of nutrients in order for you to be at your best.  In addition there are many environmental factors (sleep, activity levels, past diet, toxicity, immune health etc) that have an impact.  The key key to it is that on any given day you should be eating foods that strengthens your systems.  If we eat to our Metabolic Type we can balance these systems and provide each and every cell in the body with energy to produce a healthy body and mind.

Finding out your Metabolic Type
On completing a detailed, online questionnaire, you and your advisor can review your comprehensive MT Report.  Over a 12 week program, you will get to the bottom of what foods to eat and how to fine-tune your diet, in order to feel your best and achieve your goals.  In addition there is nutrition, exercise and lifestyle support that includes;

  • Supplementation Advice

Commitment and Dedication
There are many fad and gimmick-based diet programs out there.  It is a minefield when choosing an approach to follow.  However, the golden rule is to never follow a one-size-fits-all method as it is literally pot-luck.  When considering yourself as an individual and your body as a whole it is clear that however you go about achieving optimal vitality, it must be specific to the individual......you.

With that said, given the nature of the human body, restoring and balancing health can be a challenging and lengthy process.  Remember, to reach your goals you may need to working on a few things at once - cleaning up your diet, reducing toxins, strengthening your immune system and improving digestion, whilst carrying out an exercise program.  Hence why the most enjoyable and effective way is often with the support of a health practitioner and why this program requires weekly one-to-one support for at least 12 weeks.  You must be ready and willing to match your advisor for dedication and commitment on your journey to robust health and fitness.

BioSignature Development
The BioSignature technique was developed by Charles Poliquin, a world renowned strength and conditioning coach.  It is used to improve health and performance for people with a wide variety of goals, from fat loss and health to elite athletic conditioning.

The Principle of The BioSignature Technique
The smooth functioning of our body and our body composition is largely dependent on all of its systems working efficiently and its biochemistry being in balance.  When they are out of balance then problems and dysfunction may occur:

  • Increased body fat %, Greater risk of cardiovascular disease, Disrupted cycles, Lower energy levels, Reduced brain function……..and many others….

By measuring various body fat skinfolds on the body we can calculate the distribution of fat about the body.  More so, we can easily monitor this distribution as we make changes to nutrition, exercise and lifestyle.

Research indicates that the distribution of body fat is related to hormonal levels, which hold the key to the changes you can make. There maybe one problem area, or several, but once you are armed with this knowledge you can get to work on making targeted choices and changes.  The program consists of an initial consultation followed by weekly sessions to monitor and plan the approach to enhanced health and performance including:

Case Studies

Stress, Cortisol and Weight Loss
BioSignature identified increased distribution of body fat around stomach, suggesting high stress levels.  Essential Stress-management strategies were used to bring the body back to balance and get lean.  In just 1 week, body fat reduced by 1.8%.  Healthy reductions continued over 3 months from 19% to 11% bodyfat.  The targeted stomach area enjoyed the greatest loss, at 65%.

 

Body Management & Martial Arts Strength
Goal - lose bodyfat% and increase lean mass and Martial Art Strength. Assessments identified fat distribution around abdomen (high stress), injury, overtraining, stress, hormonal imbalance, food intolerances and toxicities.  Nutrition, corrective exercise and strength training was successfully integrated over 7 months. Bodyfat reduced from 22% to 14%, weight reduced by 19lbs and lean mass (muscle) increased by 7lbs.  A holistic approach in action, leading to improved Martial Arts performances and training.
