Personal Profile
Kelly is a qualified Sports & Swedish Massage Therapist who studied at Gatehead College and her aspiration is to become a Sports Therapist involved specifically in rehabilitation. She is also a qualified Bowen Therapist.
Kelly is a retired international athlete who has had her fair share of treatments on the physio table and therefore brings first hand experience to her discipline. Kelly gained her first international vest at the age of 15 and continued to compete internationally for the next 8 years. Kelly was also multiple County (Cumbria) and Northern champion in the late 80's early 90's and the 1992 Scottish indoor champion. Kelly's goal to reach the 1992 Olympics was thwarted when at the age of 20 she suffered a double pneumothorax (collapsed lungs). Fortunately Kelly was referred to a surgeon in Liverpool who was developing a revolutionary key-hole surgery technique. Kelly was only the 2nd person in the world to undergo this type of surgery and it was the first success story. This technique is now widely used on lung cancer patients.
Sports Massage Therapy and Swedish Massage
Sports massage is a deep tissue technique and is one of the most effective therapies for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculo-skeletal system. Received regularly this may help athletes prevent injuries, which might otherwise be caused by overuse. A constant build up of tension in the muscles from regular activity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves.
To benefit from a sports massage you do not need to be a sports performer. Office workers, manual labourers and those who like gardening, walking, jogging and many other pastimes will feel the benefit too.
Swedish Massage is one of the oldest forms of treatmens in the world and is a lighter and more holistic treatment and is a great stress reliever and helps promote relaxation. It is a good all round treatment for those who feel in the need of a little pampering.
