HOW TO DESIGN AND TEACH A REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

As therapists we understand the value of a good exercise programme.

During the course of treating an injury, we instinctively know that there will be a time when the use of certain exercises would not only enhance our treatments, but would speed up the recovery of our patients. Getting the patient involved in their own recovery is a major part of the treatment process. As therapists we need to know which exercises are appropriate, when to introduce them and how to teach them safely.

In this two day workshop we will show you how to apply specific exercises to individual parts of the body.

Day one: Shoulders, Arms, Neck and Back

Day Two: Hip, Knee and Ankle

We will discuss the grey area of when to stretch and when to strengthen. We will show you how using an ancient Chinese martial arts technique you can achieve both at the same time. During the course we will also talk about the psychology needed when working with sports people and the public in general.

Tutor: Michael Newman has over twenty two years experience working as an injury and rehabilitation specialist. He was employed as a physiotherapist for Bournemouth F.C. and has worked with professional dancers and athletes from many different discipline's. Michael has been commissioned to work with clients in Europe and the Far East in his capacity of a exercise specialist. Michael has trained and studied in both western and Chinese methods of exercise. In the course he will combine the best of both styles to create a interesting and unique approach to the subject of exercise rehabilitation.

All the exercises can be taught in the therapy room (no gym needed)
